I enjoyed Black Marxism back in the day and also have come to appreciate critiques of the concept from other Black radicals, such as Cedric Johnson (I know... their names are too similar...). This piece is pretty long but some of the good critiques start at 'Misreading Marx and Marxism.'
There are some other good critiques out there. I do think Cedric Robinson's work is important, but do think fans of it (including me) should also explore other Black Marxists' critiques of it.
