Thank you for this list! I’ve been meaning to read Black Marxism, but it’s not easy!!

I’d also recommend The Black Atlantic by Paul Gilroy and Lose Your Mother by Saidiya Hartman.

Thanks for 'The Black Utopians' shout-out, Tembe (and an amazing, helpful list). I can confirm that things turn out well with Cleage :)

I was recommended 'Salvage: Readings from the Wreck' by Dionne Brand last year and I would really like to read it this year! I think it would pair well with some of the concepts you have mentioned about Playing In The Dark too btw - re imperialist and racist tropes in famous/well known fiction

I recently bought salvage from the wreck! very high on my TBR — re playing in the dark, I think so too.

Thank you, Tembe. This is what my soul needs now too.

I also just downloaded Legacy Russell's book GLITCH FEMINISM which speaks to the idea of "strategic occupation" and disrupting the fabric of a system from within. Haven't read it yet so not sure if it strikes the right tone for now but I am really fighting tooth and nail to stay connected and not to check out completely and this concept felt helpful.

Going to pick up some Legacy Russell next time I'm at the bookstore!
