Another third Tuesday, another book date! This time with Kim Johnson, an internet mutual turned IRL friend. I don’t remember how Kim and I started following each other, but lots of our DMs revolved around the books we were reading. For our date we headed to Greenlight in Fort Greene, which Kim likes because she doesn’t live too far away. I’m also a Greenlight fan. They do a great job of curating new reads and I like that there’s a stationery store next door. Below we talk about the witchy book she read as kid (not Harry Potter!), the books that shaped her, and the last book she gifted to a friend.
Please state your name for the record.
Kim Johnson
What do you do?
I’m a community and brand strategy consultant. I also have a company called With Friends.
Where are you from?
I’m from Bethesda, Maryland. I live in Brooklyn.
How has that shaped you?
All of my family is from the DMV and my family’s been from DC for a very long time, so I think more than anything being in a place where all my family has been for generations has been formative for me.
How many books did you read last year?
10.
What was your favorite?
Can I do top three?
Sure.
